On Friday, a Fijian national was apprehended at Nadi Airport while carrying a significant amount of white substances suspected to be methamphetamine. This operation was the result of collaboration between various border law enforcement agencies, including the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
Using a K9 unit, officials searched the 33-year-old man who had just arrived on an international flight. The K9 officer indicated the presence of illicit substances, prompting further inspection of the suspect’s belongings, which led to the discovery of white crystal substances believed to be methamphetamine. The seized substances have now been sent for analysis to confirm their identity.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, commended the cooperative efforts of the border enforcement agencies in their mission to combat drug trafficking and protect the Fijian community from the dangers associated with illegal drugs. This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and collaboration in maintaining safety and security in Fiji.
The ongoing commitment of law enforcement to curb drug trafficking is a positive step towards creating a safer environment for all Fijians, and it highlights the effectiveness of joint operations in tackling these serious challenges.
