An incident involving a GA-8 Airvan aircraft with the registration DQ-VAN took place at Yasawa Aerodrome on Saturday morning, December 21, 2024. The aircraft had taken off from Nadi Airport at 9:49 AM and unfortunately overran the runway during landing at Yasawa Aerodrome.
While the aircraft suffered damages to its nose wheel and propeller, it came to a halt just outside the runway area. Thankfully, both the pilot and the six passengers on board were unharmed, and there were no injuries reported.
Operations at Yasawa Aerodrome continue without disruption, with the runway still accommodating aviation activities. In light of the incident, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Civil Aviation has announced the appointment of an investigator to carry out a thorough investigation. This inquiry will follow established protocols and international aviation standards, with the goal of identifying measures to enhance safety in the future.
