Aircraft Incident at Yasawa Aerodrome: All Safe, Investigation Underway

An aircraft accident involving a GA-8 Airvan, registered as DQ-VAN, took place at Yasawa Aerodrome on Saturday morning, December 21, 2024. The aircraft departed from Nadi Airport at 9:49 AM but overran the runway during landing and came to a stop just outside the strip.

Fortunately, the aircraft sustained only minor damage to its nose wheel and propeller, and the pilot, along with six passengers on board, suffered no injuries. Yasawa Aerodrome remains operational, and other aviation activities are continuing as scheduled.

In response to the incident, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, announced the appointment of an investigator to conduct a thorough examination of the accident. This inquiry will follow established procedures and international safety standards, with the goal of implementing any necessary precautions to further enhance aviation safety.
