The Ministry of Agriculture, Waterways and Sugar Industry in the Western Division has successfully accomplished 90 percent of its commitments from August 2025 to February this year, showcasing remarkable resilience in the face of ongoing pressures within the agriculture sector. This notable achievement underscores the dedication of the ministry’s officers, who have not only met key targets but have efficiently utilized 90 percent of the allocated funding during this time.
Petero Mausio, the Senior Agricultural Officer for Ba, attributed this success to the hardworking staff on the ground. He emphasized that their persistence and commitment have been crucial in reaching these goals, noting that although the recognition may not fully represent the time and effort invested, the outcomes are a testament to their dedication. Many of the officers, dressed in field attire during the recognition event, highlighted their direct engagement with farmers and the agriculture community.
Assistant Minister Inosi Kuridrani acknowledged the various challenges faced by the ministry, describing the work as demanding but rewarding. He pointed out that the rise in agriculture’s contribution to GDP is closely linked to the guidance and support provided by the officers to farmers. Kuridrani commended the staff for their performances over the past six months and encouraged them to continue pushing their limits, affirming that they should not use administrative gaps as an excuse for any lapse in performance.
This achievement not only reflects the collective efforts of the ministry’s staff but also symbolizes hope for a resilient agricultural sector that continues to adapt and thrive amidst challenges. The commitment shown by the officers serves as an inspiring example for future work in agriculture, highlighting the importance of dedication and teamwork in driving positive change.
