Qenika Ravula’s inspiring journey culminated in triumph as he graduated from Pacific Polytech in Labasa, receiving his National Certificate as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic Level Three. The 20-year-old, who has battled a spinal disorder known as kyphosis for more than a decade, drew strength from his faith and a powerful verse from the Bible, believing that with Christ, he could achieve anything.
Mr. Ravula, the fourth of seven children from Vuinaqalutu Village in Dreketi, Macuata, expressed deep emotion as he walked on stage to accept his certificate from the Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga. His struggles with his physical appearance have sometimes made social interactions difficult, but he continues to push forward, motivated by his faith and the unwavering support of his family.
After completing Year 12 at Ahmadiyya Muslim College, Ravula turned to the Naleba Youth Training Centre to pursue a Certificate in Agriculture. With his recent achievement, he has become the first in his family to earn a trade certificate, a significant milestone for them. He shared that his family depends on his mother’s farming and support from the Social Welfare Department to make ends meet.
Grateful for the opportunity afforded by the Tertiary Education and Loan Scheme, Ravula credited his success to his mother’s dedication and God’s guidance. In his message to other young people, he emphasized the importance of perseverance, suggesting that true strength lies not in drugs or crime but in faith and hard work.
Mr. Ravula’s story serves as a beacon of hope for many facing hardships. His journey illustrates that, regardless of obstacles, dedication and a positive mindset can lead to success. This serves as a reminder that everyone has a unique path and potential to overcome challenges, encouraging others to pursue their dreams with tenacity and faith.
