Qenika Ravula recently achieved a remarkable milestone by graduating with a National Certificate in Electrical Fitter Mechanic Level Three at the Pacific Polytech graduation ceremony held at Kshatriya Hall in Labasa. Overcoming the challenges of living with kyphosis, a spinal disorder he has dealt with for over a decade, Mr. Ravula was visibly emotional as he walked to the stage to receive his certificate from the Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga.
At 20 years old and the fourth of seven siblings from Vuinaqalutu Village in Dreketi, Macuata, Mr. Ravula’s journey has been shaped by resilience and determination. Despite his condition sometimes making it difficult to socialize, he found inspiration and motivation in his faith and the biblical verse, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
After completing Year 12 at Ahmadiyya Muslim College, he pursued further education at the Naleba Youth Training Centre, where he obtained a Certificate in Agriculture. His achievement as the first in his family to earn a trade certificate highlights his dedication and hard work.
Mr. Ravula’s family relies on assistance from the Social Welfare Department, with his mother providing for them by planting root crops. His spirit of gratitude is evident as he acknowledges the unwavering support of his mother throughout his educational journey. He applied to take a five-month course through the Tertiary Education and Loan Scheme, which ultimately led to his graduation.
In his message to fellow youth, he emphasized the importance of perseverance, urging them to seek strength from God rather than turning to drugs or crime. He believes that with hard work and faith, anyone can overcome their challenges and reach their goals.
Mr. Ravula’s story serves as an inspiring reminder that determination and faith can lead to success, no matter the obstacles one may face. His accomplishments not only mark personal achievement but also offer hope to others in similar situations, encouraging them to strive for their dreams with resilience and belief in themselves.
