Shelly Tokalauvere, a 22-year-old from Sawaieke Village in Gau, has successfully graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Banking and Finance, from Fiji National University. In reflecting on her educational journey, she shared the challenges she faced when leaving her family in pursuit of higher education, expressing that every sacrifice was ultimately rewarding.

Wearing her graduation gown was a moment of pride for Tokalauvere, who emphasized the importance of perseverance in overcoming obstacles. “Wearing this gown reminds me of how I was able to overcome all the challenges that came my way,” she stated, urging other students to remain diligent and committed to their goals. “I want them to experience the same sense of accomplishment I feel right now.”

Dedicated to her family’s unwavering support, especially her father’s, Tokalauvere credited him as her source of motivation during difficult times. “He is the one I called when I felt like giving up. He reminded me why I started and encouraged me to see it through to the end,” she noted.
