After six years of studying, Avisaki Buirokotuiloma has successfully completed her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of the South Pacific. Supported by her parents financially, she also worked to fund her education. Walking across the graduation stage on Friday was a momentous achievement for her.
Ms. Buirokotuiloma faced significant challenges in securing sufficient financial resources for her courses. “At times, the thought of giving up crossed my mind, but my parents’ support and encouragement were my biggest motivators,” she stated. She expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering prayers and support from her family and relatives, emphasizing that her accomplishments would not have been possible without them.
To complete her degree, Ms. Buirokotuiloma often stayed home and took on part-time jobs. Despite facing numerous difficulties, her determination to succeed remained strong. She acknowledged that balancing her studies with household responsibilities was challenging, but the right support and information played a crucial role in her success.
Originally from Navuniyasi in Naitasiri, Ms. Buirokotuiloma’s dream of becoming a teacher is now on the brink of realization. She has always envisioned herself in a classroom, and that dream is now unfolding. “With this degree, I will be able to get a stable job and assist with responsibilities at home. It is never too late, and I am happy to have finally achieved this,” she concluded.
