Aerosmith Bids Farewell: Lead Singer’s Injury Forces Tour Cancellation

The rock band Aerosmith, hailing from Massachusetts, has announced their retirement from touring and the cancellation of their farewell tour due to a vocal injury sustained by lead singer Steven Tyler.

In a statement shared on social media, the band expressed, “We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working to regain his voice after the injury. We’ve witnessed his struggle despite having the best medical team available. Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery is not possible. As a band of brothers, we have made the heartbreaking but necessary decision to retire from touring.”

Tyler’s vocal injury occurred during a concert in September, where he initially stated he would be unable to sing for 30 days. However, it became apparent that the injury was more severe than first assessed, leading to the suspension of the tour.

The farewell tour was scheduled to continue on September 20 in Pittsburgh, with planned performances in cities including Philadelphia, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, and New York. Moreover, they were to hold a “hometown show” on New Year’s Eve at TD Garden in Boston, which was also cancelled due to Tyler’s injury.

In their statement, the band expressed immense gratitude to their fans and all those involved in their tours, saying, “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was excited to join us on the road one last time. A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”
