Adriu Qio, the president of Lautoka Primary School Athletics, has been appointed as the new president of the Fiji Primary School Athletics Association. This transition was confirmed by former president Patrick Bower, who noted that leadership responsibilities have officially shifted to Lautoka.

This appointment comes as the Fiji Primary School Athletics looks to build upon the successes of the previous year’s national championships, which showcased remarkable performances across various divisions. Notably, Suva One is the current champion in the boys’ division; they triumphed in 2025 by securing 10 gold, 14 silver, and six bronze medals.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ division, Nadi continues to establish itself as a formidable contender, finishing with an impressive tally of 14 gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. Nadi also leads the overall combined standings and will aim to defend their title this year, boasting a total of 19 gold, 13 silver, and five bronze medals from last year. Suva One followed closely, finishing second with 16 gold, 26 silver, and eight bronze, while Tailevu took third place with 11 gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals.

With Qio at the helm, anticipation is mounting as preparations kick off for the new athletics season, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting year for Fijian primary school athletics.
