A former accountant of the Fiji Rugby Union, Pawan Deo, along with his partner Subhashni Mudaliar, has had their fraud case postponed until January 21. The case was originally slated to be heard by Suva Magistrate Krishan Prasad; however, the session was not conducted due to the court being out of session, which led to the adjournment of all matters listed under his jurisdiction.
Deo and Mudaliar face serious charges that include conspiracy to defraud and unlawfully obtaining financial advantages. They are accused of having misappropriated $53,788.75 from the Fiji Rugby Union and facilitating fraudulent payments amounting to $7,291.83 to Sports Supplies Ltd in 2022.
This case not only raises significant concerns regarding the integrity within organizations but also underscores the judicial system’s commitment to ensuring accountability. The adjournment provides both parties with more time to prepare and review the evidence thoroughly, which is a positive aspect of the judicial process, signaling a fair approach to legal proceedings. As this case unfolds, there remains hope that it will lead to a resolution that upholds justice for everyone involved.
