Joel Abraham, previously the CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC), has assumed the position of Executive Director at the Asia Pacific Regulatory Centre. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Mr. Abraham expressed appreciation to the Fijian government for the support he received throughout his tenure at the FCCC, which he joined in 2013 and led from 2016.
During his time at the FCCC, Mr. Abraham prioritized Fijian consumers, stating, “Most importantly, I want to thank the Fijian consumers—you are at the heart of everything we do. Your trust and engagement have been the driving force behind our efforts.” His commitment to transparency, fairness, and economic empowerment will persist in his new role, where he plans to make meaningful contributions to the region.
Recognized as a transformative leader, Mr. Abraham’s work significantly enhanced consumer protection and regulatory practices. Moreover, he founded the Pacific Islands Network of Competition, Consumer Protection, and Economic Regulators (PINCCER), which bolstered collaboration among Pacific nations and improved regional regulatory standards.
