The All Nations Christian Fellowship (ANCF) has announced plans to construct a church with the capacity to accommodate 40,000 attendees. This information was shared by ANCF’s general superintendent, Reverend Epeli Ratabacaca, during the church’s Epic Rugby Sevens tournament at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last Friday.
Rev. Ratabacaca explained that the tournament serves as a fundraiser for this ambitious project. “We have a 25-acre plot of land allocated for this church facility, which will be able to host 40,000 people,” he stated. He emphasized that the building will be open to events for all Christian denominations.
“We are motivated to create this facility for the entire body of Christ, and we are thankful that God has chosen us for this mission,” he added. According to Rev. Ratabacaca, the facility is intended not only for the ANCF but also for other Christian groups to utilize for conferences and gatherings.
He noted that using sports venues for worship is not suitable, citing the high costs involved. He referenced the Methodist Church Conference that took place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, which incurred expenses of nearly half a million dollars for just one week.
“Venues like sports arenas and the Vodafone Arena are not truly places of worship. Many Christian annual conferences have been conducted at these sports grounds, and participants often face discomfort in adverse weather conditions,” he said. “This new facility will ensure that we have a comfortable environment for worshiping God.”
