In a significant moment for the Koroi family, 18-year-old Tevita Tucaketale Koroi was awarded the prestigious Dux award at Queen Victoria School on Friday, marking a noteworthy milestone in his academic journey. This honor serves as a testament to his hard work and dedication, as well as the unwavering support of his parents, who have played an inspirational role in his life.
Tevita expressed heartfelt gratitude towards his parents, acknowledging the sacrifices they made to ensure his success. “Mom and dad are my inspiration; they’ve worked tirelessly for my siblings and me,” he shared. His journey has not been without challenges, especially during his year at Queen Victoria School, yet Tevita emphasized the importance of perseverance and faith, mentioning that he had prayed and fasted for this accomplishment.
Originating from Raviravi, Matuku Lau and connected to Nakasaleka in Kadavu, Tevita is the eldest of six siblings and began his high school education at Natabua High School in Lautoka. His achievements have brought immense pride to his family, particularly his mother, Ravi Drodro Koroi, who expressed her gratitude to God for the guidance provided to her son. “We are a family that moves together, and though challenging, we are thankful for the path we’ve chosen for him,” she said with tears of joy.
