Josese Cagica’s passion for cooking, nurtured in a food-loving family, has led him to pursue a culinary education and establish his own bakery. At the Miss Hibiscus Festival, he took the opportunity to employ young people from Nadera, providing them with a means to earn a respectable income. Mr. Cagica described his experience at the festival as unique, despite the hurdles he faces in building his brand.
“Participating in the Miss Hibiscus Festival presents a special opportunity for me, especially as I launch new pastries that could become popular in the area,” he stated. He emphasized that events like the Hibiscus Festival allow entrepreneurs to improve and better represent themselves in the marketplace.
In addition to developing his brand, “The Cake Lab,” Mr. Cagica is dedicated to helping the youth of Nadera by offering them job opportunities. Motivated by the festival’s spirit, he aims to give back to the community, aspiring to elevate his own living standards and those of the young individuals he employs. He credits the unwavering support from his parents, family, and friends as a source of encouragement.
Currently, Mr. Cagica receives local orders as well as requests from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Africa. He has successfully navigated the challenges of running his business, viewing this time as a blessing rather than a burden.
