Maria Sauvou expresses immense gratitude towards the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting it with saving her daughter from the struggles of Rheumatic Heart Disease. Sixteen-year-old Ulamila Naivalu was diagnosed with this condition when she was just one year old.
“It has been a long and challenging fifteen years for us. I am so thankful that on Thursday, she underwent a successful operation,” Ms. Sauvou stated. She described the relief of having the burden lifted, noting that her daughter can now live freely.
“No more worries, no more sleepless nights, no more pain, no more injections,” she added. Throughout their ordeal, Ms. Sauvou maintained a positive environment for Ulamila, encouraging her during tough times.
“There were moments when Ulamila showed signs of her heart weakening, and I would rush her to the hospital for her injection. Those were very challenging times for us, especially for her. However, with the support of our family and our ceaseless prayers, Ulamila managed to endure despite the difficulties.”
For years, Ms. Sauvou explored various options, ultimately concluding that surgery was their only hope. Ulamila became a patient at Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I first learned of her RHD diagnosis, I felt as though the world had let us down. I was filled with sorrow, especially knowing how young she was. I lost hope until the Sai Prema Children Hospital became our beacon of light,” she shared.
“I am genuinely thankful that places like this exist, focusing specifically on treating children with this illness. Like many parents, we feel blessed by this foundation; it truly is a miracle,” she remarked.
Ms. Sauvou urges other parents not to hesitate in seeking medical check-ups for their children. “We are not financially well off. God answers prayers, leading us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital. The staff and medical team are incredibly supportive; they made Ulamila feel at home. It’s certainly a comforting environment.”
