A Mother’s Journey: A Grateful Heart and a New Beginning

Maria Sauvou expresses profound gratitude to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital for providing critical support that has significantly improved her daughter’s life. Ulamila Naivalu, 16, has battled Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) since she was just one year old.

“It has been an arduous 15 years for us. I am immensely thankful that Ulamila underwent a successful operation on Thursday,” Ms. Sauvou shared. “It felt like a heavy burden was lifted from my shoulders. Now my daughter can live freely.”

She added, “We no longer have to worry, experience sleepless nights, deal with pain, or manage countless injections.” Despite facing significant challenges, Ms. Sauvou created a nurturing environment, consistently encouraging her daughter through tough times.

“Whenever Ulamila showed signs of her heart weakening, I rushed her to the hospital for her treatment. It was a challenging period for both of us,” she recalled. With the support of family and constant prayers, Ulamila persevered through her difficult journey.

For years, Ms. Sauvou sought treatment options, and surgery became the beacon of hope for her family. Ulamila eventually received care at the Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I first found out about her RHD diagnosis, I felt like the world had turned its back on us,” she admitted. “I was devastated knowing that she was so young, and hopelessness engulfed me. Then the Sai Prema Children Hospital entered our lives.”

She expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the existence of such facilities that cater specifically to children with RHD, describing the foundation as nothing short of a miracle.

Ms. Sauvou encourages other parents to seek medical check-ups for their children without hesitation. “We are not well-off, yet God has answered our prayers and led us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital,” she said. “The staff and medical team are incredibly supportive; they made Ulamila feel at home in a very comforting environment.”
