Maria Sauvou expresses deep gratitude to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting it with saving her daughter from the struggles of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Her daughter, 16-year-old Ulamila Naivalu, was diagnosed with RHD at just one year old.

“It has been 15 long and difficult years for us. I am so grateful that on Thursday she had a successful operation,” Ms. Sauvou remarked, noting how the weight of worry has lifted from her. “My daughter can live freely now,” she added, relieved that there will be “no more worries, no more sleepless nights, no more pain, no more injections.”

Through the years, Ms. Sauvou focused on creating a supportive environment for Ulamila, always offering encouraging words during challenging periods. She recalls rushing her daughter to the hospital whenever signs of heart weakness appeared, which made those times particularly tough for both of them. “But with the support of our family and enduring prayers, Ulamila endured through it all,” she shared.

For many years, Ms. Sauvou sought options for surgery, knowing it was their only hope. Ulamila finally found her place at the Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I first learned that she had RHD, I thought the world had failed me. It was devastating to know my daughter was so young and facing such serious health issues,” she reflected. “I lost all hope until Sai Prema Children Hospital came into the picture,” she continued, expressing her gratitude for a facility dedicated to children suffering from this condition.

Ms. Sauvou encourages other parents not to hesitate in seeking medical check-ups for their children. “We are not well off. God answers prayers and led us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital,” she emphasized. “The staff and medical team have been incredibly supportive, making Ulamila feel at home in a comforting environment.”
