Maria Sauvou expresses deep gratitude to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting them for alleviating her daughter’s struggles with Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Sixteen-year-old Ulamila Naivalu was diagnosed with RHD at just one year old.
“It has been a long, challenging 15 years for us. I am thankful that Ulamila had a successful operation on Thursday,” Ms. Sauvou remarked. “It’s as if a heavy burden has been lifted from my shoulders. My daughter can now live freely.”
She shared, “No more worries, sleepless nights, pain, or injections.” Despite facing numerous challenges, Ms. Sauvou ensured that her daughter was surrounded by a positive environment and received encouragement during tough times.
“There were moments when Ulamila showed signs of heart weakness, and I would rush her to the hospital for her injections. It has been a very difficult journey for both of us,” she recounted. “However, with the unwavering support of our family and constant prayers, Ulamila persevered.”
For many years, Ms. Sauvou explored various options, realizing that surgery was their only hope, ultimately leading them to the Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I first found out about her RHD diagnosis, I felt as though the world had turned against me. I was devastated, especially knowing how young she was. I lost all hope until Sai Prema Children Hospital entered our lives,” she said.
“I’m deeply grateful that such facilities exist, specifically dedicated to helping children with this illness. Like many parents, we feel blessed by this foundation; it truly feels like a miracle.”
Ms. Sauvou encourages other parents to seek medical check-ups for their children without hesitation. “We aren’t wealthy, but I believe God answers prayers and led us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital. The staff and medical team have been incredibly helpful and made Ulamila feel at home. It’s undoubtedly a comforting environment.”
