Maria Sauvou expresses immense gratitude toward the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting it with saving her daughter from the hardships of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Her 16-year-old daughter, Ulamila Naivalu, was diagnosed with RHD at just one year old.
“It has been a long and challenging 15 years for us. I am so thankful that Ulamila had a successful operation on Thursday,” Ms. Sauvou remarked. “It felt like a heavy burden was lifted off my shoulders. Now my daughter can live freely.”
She reflected on the relief that comes with no longer worrying about sleepless nights, pain, or the frequent injections her daughter once endured. Despite facing many challenges, Ms. Sauvou worked hard to create a supportive environment for Ulamila, offering her positive encouragement during tough moments.
“There were times when Ulamila’s heart showed signs of weakness, and I would rush her to the hospital for her injections. It was a really difficult period for both of us,” she shared. With family support and continuous prayers, Ulamila persevered through the hardships.
For many years, Ms. Sauvou explored various options, and surgery emerged as the only feasible hope. Ulamila found a place at the Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I first learned about her RHD diagnosis, I felt like the world had let me down. My heart was heavy, especially knowing how young she was. I lost hope until the Sai Prema Children Hospital came into the picture,” she recalled.
“I’m sincerely grateful for facilities like this that specifically cater to children’s cases with this illness. Like many parents, we feel blessed by this foundation; it truly is a miracle,” Ms. Sauvou said.
She encourages other parents to seek check-ups for their children without hesitation. “We are not wealthy, but God answers prayers. He led us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital where the staff and medical team were incredibly supportive, making Ulamila feel at home. It’s truly a comforting environment.”
