Maria Sauvou expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting it with saving her daughter from the struggles of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD).

Her 16-year-old daughter, Ulamila Naivalu, was diagnosed with RHD when she was just one year old. “It has been 15 long and difficult years for us. I am so grateful that on Thursday she had a successful operation,” Ms. Sauvou remarked. She described the relief of the successful surgery as a significant lifting of a burden, stating, “My daughter can live freely now. No more worries, no more sleepless nights, no more pain, no more injections.”

Despite facing numerous challenges, Ms. Sauvou ensured that Ulamila was in a supportive environment and maintained a positive attitude to encourage her through tough times. She recalled moments when Ulamila’s heart showed signs of weakness, leading to urgent trips to the hospital for injections. “It was really a hard time for us, especially for her,” she said. With family support and continuous prayers, Ulamila persisted through her struggles.

For years, Ms. Sauvou searched for options, knowing that surgery was their only hope. Ulamila was admitted to the Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I first learned that she had RHD, I thought the world had failed me. I was heavy-hearted, emotional knowing that she was still young. I lost all hope, but then Sai Prema Children Hospital came into the picture,” she shared. Ms. Sauvou feels immensely grateful for institutions that specifically support children with such critical conditions. “Like many parents, we are blessed by this foundation; a miracle is what it is.”

She encourages other parents not to hesitate in taking their children for check-ups, stressing, “We are not well off. God answers prayers. He directed us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital.” She praised the staff and medical team for their kindness and support, saying, “They made Ulamila feel at home. It is definitely a comforting setting.”
