Maria Sauvou expresses her deep gratitude for the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, which has been instrumental in her daughter’s recovery from Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Her 16-year-old daughter, Ulamila Naivalu, has battled RHD since she was just one year old.

“It’s been a challenging 15 years for us, but I am relieved and thankful that my daughter had a successful operation on Thursday,” Ms. Sauvou shared. “It’s like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now, my daughter can live freely.”

She noted the end of her worries, sleepless nights, pain, and the need for injections. Throughout the years, Ms. Sauvou worked hard to create a positive environment for Ulamila, encouraging her to persevere through tough times.

“There were moments when Ulamila’s heart seemed to weaken, and I had to rush her to the hospital for her injection. It was incredibly tough for both of us,” she recalled. “However, with family support and persistent prayers, Ulamila held on through the challenges.”

After exploring various options, Ms. Sauvou found hope in surgical intervention at the Sai Prema Children Hospital. Reflecting on the early days after Ulamila’s diagnosis, she said, “When I learned about her RHD, I felt as though the world had turned against me. I was devastated, especially knowing how young she was. I lost all hope until Sai Prema stepped in.”

“I am sincerely thankful for institutions like this that specifically focus on treating children with this condition,” she added. “Like many parents, we felt blessed by this foundation; it’s truly a miracle.”

Ms. Sauvou urges other parents to prioritize their children’s health and seek medical attention without hesitation. “We are not wealthy, but God answers prayers. He led us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital,” she stated. “The staff and medical team were incredibly supportive and made Ulamila feel at home in such a comforting environment.”
