A Historic First: India’s President Droupadi Murmu Visits Fiji

India’s President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to Fiji marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the two nations. According to Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, this visit is set to strengthen the bonds between Fiji and India.

During her visit, discussions regarding the establishment of a 100-bed super specialty hospital in Fiji were also announced, as the necessary land is now available. Professor Prasad noted that President Murmu’s presence underscores India’s contributions to Fiji’s education, healthcare, technology, and agricultural sectors.

“This is the first time an Indian President has visited Fiji,” he remarked. “Her visit will not only enhance the existing ties but also open new avenues for development cooperation between our countries.”

Furthermore, Professor Prasad highlighted President Murmu’s message during her traditional welcoming ceremony, where she encouraged Fiji to preserve its identity, culture, and traditions. He emphasized that her statement holds significant importance for Fiji.
