A father of five, Alipate Moli, expressed his overwhelming pride and joy as he watched his oldest son, Sakaraia Qilu, receive two prestigious awards at the Fiji National University graduation ceremony. Sakaraia was honored with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Graduate in Nursing award, as well as the Certificate of Excellence and the Dean’s Honours.
Mr. Moli, the family’s sole breadwinner, attended the ceremony with his entire family, highlighting the dedication he has shown to ensure a bright future for his children. Despite his demanding job as a hotel worker, which requires him to spend 11 days on the island and only three days at home, he stays connected with his children, regularly calling them to check on their studies.
Mr. Qilu’s academic success was not unexpected; he had previously earned accolades during his schooling years, including being recognized as the best Biology student. He has a genuine passion for nursing, driven by his desire to care for others. Looking ahead, Mr. Qilu plans to enroll in a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program, with aspirations of pursuing a doctorate in the future.
He also expressed his commitment to guiding his younger siblings, emphasizing the importance of education and steering them away from negative influences. Mr. Qilu shared heartfelt gratitude for his mother, who continually reminds him of life’s realities that have shaped his success. He offered advice to his peers, urging them to cultivate a positive circle of friends to help them achieve their goals.
