This year marks a significant milestone for Isimeli Tavo Labalaba as he celebrated his 42nd birthday on the same day his daughter, Francis Grace Siganisucu Labalaba, graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Management from Fiji National University. The graduation ceremony took place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, and Mr. Labalaba described this day as “the best gift ever.”
Adding to the family’s accomplishments, Mr. Labalaba’s wife, Iliseva, is set to graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Leadership and Management today. The simultaneous academic achievements of both mother and daughter have made this occasion particularly special for the Labalaba family.
Francis expressed her pride in graduating alongside her mother, attributing part of her success to the unwavering support of her family. She noted how, despite some challenges, her mother’s encouragement kept her focused throughout her studies.
The family made adjustments during Francis’s academic journey; she relocated to Lautoka to be close to her mother, who was transferred to Aspen Medical Lautoka Hospital. While Francis works in the finance department at Fiji Airports, her mother serves as a midwife at the same institution.
As they prepare for a week of celebrations, Ms. Labalaba emphasizes that this achievement is not the end but rather a step toward future success. She believes that “success knows no age,” encouraging continued learning and growth for all.
This inspirational story showcases the power of family support and the importance of education, serving as a reminder that hard work and dedication can lead to remarkable achievements, regardless of one’s stage in life.
In summary, the Labalaba family’s celebrations not only highlight personal milestones but also reflect on the shared journey toward success, underscoring the belief that learning is a lifelong endeavor.
