This Christmas is shaping up to be a memorable one for Kelevi Cavuduadua, a villager from Natubuniqio, Vugalei in Tailevu. His eldest son, Peniasi Kaloukocei Apisai, is returning home after spending two years in Australia, bringing back an impressive Christmas gift: a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the prestigious Australian National University (ANU).
Peniasi’s achievement marks a significant milestone as he is the first individual from his village to earn this qualification, a source of immense pride for his father. Mr. Cavuduadua expressed gratitude for the educational opportunities that his children have pursued, attributing their success to the lessons passed down from their elders regarding the value of education and community.
Recently, Peniasi received a wonderful surprise from his brother, Apenisa. Apenisa purchased an air ticket for their father to join him in Australia for the graduation ceremony, making this moment even more special for their family. As the eldest of five siblings, Apenisa highlighted the sacrifices their father made to ensure they received a good education, dedicating his accomplishment to him.
Peniasi described his background, linking his family’s origins in Tailevu and Tuvalu, and underscored the hard work and determination instilled in him by their late mother. Both he and his wife, Tenga Paueli, relocated to Australia for their studies earlier this year, and celebrated the graduation together with their father and youngest sister, who traveled from Fiji.
In his acknowledgments, Peniasi expressed heartfelt thanks to God, his family, and the institutions that supported him throughout his academic journey. He dedicated his accomplishments to his father, recognizing the unwavering love and encouragement he provided.
The family is planning a celebration at their estate in Nakoromakawa, Natubuniqio Village, to commemorate this significant achievement, bringing together family and community to share in their joy.
This story is a beautiful reminder of the impact education can have on families and communities, showcasing how perseverance can lead to significant milestones. It reflects hope for future generations, encouraging others to pursue their dreams and invest in their education.
