Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to advocate for the Pacific to be recognized as a region of peace during the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, which kicks off in Tonga tomorrow.
He made this statement while engaging with the Fijian diaspora in Tonga last night.
Rabuka noted, “These meetings often face scrutiny, and very few acknowledge our accomplishments, primarily because the outcomes of these visits are not immediately visible.” He emphasized that the decisions made and discussions held with various leaders take time to bear fruit.
He remarked, “All these meetings hold significance as they influence the nations and the people within the region.”
Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka conducted a talanoa session with the diaspora and plans to address the challenges faced by the community during the PIFS meeting.
The theme for this week’s meeting is “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” and it will take place from Monday to Friday.
