Ten-year-old Arjun Kumar from Labasa had a truly memorable birthday as he celebrated with family and watched his father, Inspector Avinesh Kumar, receive a prestigious medal of honor. The event took place at the Suva Civic Centre, where a significant number of police officers were recognized for their service. Specifically, 206 officers were awarded the Fiji Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medals, and 89 received Fiji Police Medals.

Arjun expressed his pride in his father’s accomplishments. Inspector Kumar, who has been a dedicated member of the Fiji Police Force for 19 years, received a Fiji Police Medal just three months after returning from a United Nations mission in South Sudan. He reflected on the recognition as an affirmation of his commitment to ensuring the safety of the nation.

As Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, praised the officers for their diligent efforts in maintaining safety in Fiji, he also encouraged them to consider every opportunity to improve. He acknowledged that while some officers may not uphold the standards, the collective goal remains to serve the community with integrity.

This heartwarming story not only highlights the dedication of police officers but also underscores the pride families feel in their loved ones’ accomplishments. As Arjun prepares to return to Labasa for school, he carries with him cherished memories of a birthday that celebrated both family and service.

Overall, the event was a shining moment that signifies honor, dedication, and community support.
