A significant allocation of $900,000 has been earmarked for clean and safe drinking water projects in the villages of Niurua and Naqumu, located in Macuata. This announcement was made by Macuata’s provincial administrator, Revoni Rakasa, during her presentation at the Macuata Provincial Council meeting held in Sasa Village.
According to Rakasa, the government has committed $637 million towards enhancing infrastructure and services in the Northern Division, which encompasses Macuata. She emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring that residents in this area have access to essential services.
The allocated funds will be directed towards vital projects, particularly in the maintenance and enhancement of roads, water systems, communication networks, and market access. Several projects have already been identified for funding.
“While the government aims to assist those in need, it may take some time before all efforts are realized,” Rakasa indicated. She also highlighted that the government has demonstrated its commitment through disaster relief efforts over the past year, which amounted to over $655 million, aimed at aiding communities in recovering from natural disasters.
This investment in infrastructure and basic services reflects a positive step towards improving living conditions in Macuata, ultimately fostering community resilience and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. As the government continues to respond to the needs of its people, there is hope for a brighter and more sustainable future in the region.
