A total of $900,000 has been earmarked for clean and safe drinking water initiatives in the villages of Niurua and Naqumu, located in Macuata. This announcement was made by Macuata provincial administrator Revoni Rakasa during a presentation at the Macuata Provincial Council meeting held in Sasa Village on Friday.

Revoni Rakasa highlighted that the Government has allocated an impressive $637 million to enhance infrastructure and services throughout the northern region. “The Government is committed to ensuring that those in the Northern Division, including Macuata, have access to essential services,” she stated.

The funds will specifically target vital projects aimed at improving roads, water supply, communication, and market access. While several projects have already been identified for fund allocation, she emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to assist those in need, even though it may take some time.

Ms. Rakasa also noted the Government’s previous efforts in disaster relief, revealing that over $655 million was spent last year to support recovery from natural calamities, showcasing a dedication to helping communities rebuild.

This initiative not only emphasizes the government’s intention to improve essential services but also reflects a broader commitment to community welfare and resilience, creating hope for better living conditions in these villages. It signifies a progressive step towards sustainable development and improved quality of life for the residents of Macuata.
