Over 6,000 students have benefited from a back-to-school assistance program that provides free exercise books, facilitated by the Narere Youth Foundation. This initiative is part of a broader effort to support education, reflecting the commitments made by the government. Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh emphasized the government’s dedication to education, noting that free education is available from kindergarten through Year 13.

Singh stated that, in addition to covering school fees, transport fares, and textbooks, the government provides an annual subsidy of $200 per child for essentials such as stationery and school uniforms. He highlighted the cooperative efforts between the Narere Youth Foundation and the government, stating, “This initiative complements the Government’s commitment to education. By providing free exercise books to over 6,000 students, they are helping families and ensuring that no child is left unprepared for the new school year.”

The Minister also called attention to the essential role parents play in fostering disciplined and motivated children while recognizing the efforts of community organizations, trustees, and volunteers who support vulnerable families through programs such as providing meals to those in need.

Dinesh Kumar, President of the Narere Youth Foundation, reiterated the initiative’s goal of alleviating financial strain on families, ensuring that children are fully prepared for the school year. Moreover, he indicated future plans for the foundation to expand its support by including school uniforms and additional resources for families in most need. This approach aims to further secure equitable educational opportunities for all children in the community.
