The Ministry of Education is implementing temporary solutions to address the ongoing shortage of teachers, currently relocating over 600 secondary school educators to primary schools to fill critical gaps. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro highlighted that this strategy is essential for maintaining classroom operations while the Ministry seeks more sustainable solutions.
Radrodro noted that there is optimism on the horizon, with over 380 newly graduated primary school teachers anticipated to join the workforce soon, which should alleviate some of the pressure caused by the current shortages. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that challenges persist, particularly in key subject areas such as Mathematics and Computer Studies, where the Ministry is relying on available resources to meet educational demands.
Despite these difficulties, Radrodro emphasized that student performance remains promising, as evidenced by recent positive examination results. He urged parents, communities, and educational stakeholders to collaborate and continue supporting the education system, emphasizing that education’s success is a collective responsibility that requires ongoing support to uphold high standards in schools.
