Teams participating in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s men’s tournament will be motivated by new financial incentives being introduced for each pool match won. Lawrence Tikaram, president of Marist Rugby Club, announced that this initiative seeks to reward grassroots teams while fostering a spirit of competitive rugby throughout the event.

Each team stands to gain $50 for every pool match victory, with a maximum potential earning of $150 for those teams that manage to win all three of their pool matches. Tikaram emphasized that this incentive specifically targets the men’s competition, aiming to deliver financial benefits directly to the participating teams, especially those from the grassroots level.

Moreover, Tikaram indicated that there is a new plan for teams that don’t win any of their pool matches, though specifics about this particular initiative are yet to be revealed.

The 50th edition of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is scheduled to take place from the 26th to the 28th of next month at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, marking an exciting milestone for the tournament with added motivation for all teams involved. This innovative move showcases a commitment to strengthening local rugby and ensuring that all clubs, regardless of their competitive edge, have something to play for.
