The Finance Ministry has announced a significant payout of approximately $41 million to support over 203,492 students for the 2025 academic year as part of the Back-to-School Support initiative. The distribution occurred in two batches, with 200,176 students receiving their payments on January 10 and an additional 3,316 students benefiting from payments issued on January 20.

The ministry confirmed that for about 8,313 Year 12 students, payments are pending until confirmation of their 2025 enrollment. In addition, around 900 applications have faced issues due to incorrect information, such as unregistered mobile numbers or incomplete forms. The ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of Education to assist those affected.

This financial aid, intended to alleviate costs associated with school essentials like uniforms and stationery, provides each eligible child with $200, which is crucial for families, particularly those with incomes under $50,000. The government aims to ensure that all children step into the new school year well-equipped, with the school term set to begin on January 27.

Accessible via digital platforms such as MPAiSA and MyCASH, as well as local Post Fiji branches, this initiative reflects a thoughtful response to the challenges families face during back-to-school preparations. The proactive payments underscore the government’s commitment to educational access and readiness, offering hope and support to families eager for their children’s academic success.

In summary, this timely assistance not only lightens the financial load for families but also reinforces the community’s collective effort towards fostering a supportive educational environment. As the new school year approaches, it is a hopeful testament to the government’s dedication to education and the wellbeing of its students.
