$35 Million Investment: What’s Next for Tailevu Province?

The government has invested over $35 million in the Tailevu province for the financial year 2023 to 2024. The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs reported that more than $17 million was allocated by the Water Authority of Fiji for various water projects in the region.

During the opening of the two-day Tailevu Provincial Council meeting, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka discussed the government’s future plans for the province and the nation, which are outlined in the recently launched National Development Plan. He emphasized the importance of the Integrated Village Development Plan, intended for implementation across all villages in the country.

Prime Minister Rabuka showcased several projects already undertaken in Tailevu, including the establishment of strategic plans at village, district, provincial, and governmental levels. He stressed that a key focus will be on promoting good governance to ensure the selection of traditional leaders dedicated to the development and empowerment of their communities.

Additionally, he noted that advancements in health services are underway, particularly highlighting the new general outpatient unit at the Korovou Health Center.
