$35 Million Investment: What’s Next for Tailevu?

The government has allocated over $35 million for the Tailevu province in the 2023 to 2024 financial year. According to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, the Water Authority of Fiji has committed more than $17 million towards various water projects in the province.

During the opening of the two-day Tailevu Provincial Council meeting, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka discussed the government’s future initiatives outlined in the newly launched National Development Plan. He pointed out that this plan is reflected in the Integrated Village Development Plan, which aims to benefit all villages across the nation.

Mr. Rabuka emphasized several projects that have already been implemented within the province, mentioning the development of strategic plans at multiple levels: village, district, provincial, and governmental. He stated that a key focus will be on promoting good governance to ensure that traditional leaders are chosen based on their commitment to community development and empowerment.

Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted improvements in health services, including the introduction of a new general outpatient unit at the Korovou Health Center.
