The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has set aside $300,000 to kickstart a masterplan aimed at developing tourism in Nasaulevu, Nadi, as part of the Nakovacake Development Trust initiative.

Cathy Marsh, the deputy director general of the Private Sector Operations Department at ADB, emphasized the importance of tourism to Fiji’s economy. She stated that the MOU would facilitate collaboration to create a masterplan for the responsible development of Nasaulevu.

“This masterplan will define our mutual vision of Nasaulevu as a prestigious, environmentally sustainable, and socially integrated destination that will attract future generations of travelers to Fiji for the next 50 years and beyond,” Marsh remarked.

Additionally, she noted that ADB has approved funding to enlist top experts from Fiji and around the globe to assist in this project. Marsh expressed enthusiasm about initiating work on the plan, aiming to commence even before the year concludes, with an initial budget of up to $300,000.
