$300,000 Boost for Nasaulevu: ADB’s Vision for Sustainable Tourism

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has allocated $300,000 for the early phases of a masterplan aimed at developing tourism in Nasaulevu, Nadi, as part of the Nakovacake Development Trust initiative. This information was shared by Cathy Marsh, the deputy director general of the Private Sector Operations Department at ADB.

Marsh emphasized the importance of tourism to Fiji’s economy, stating that the partnership will focus on creating a masterplan for the responsible development of Nasaulevu. She articulated the vision of making Nasaulevu a prestigious, environmentally sustainable, and socially integrated destination that will appeal to future generations of travelers for years to come.

ADB will fund the engagement of both local and international experts to assist in the development process. Marsh mentioned that they are ready to sign the memorandum of understanding (MOU) and to commence work promptly, with hopes of starting before the year’s end. The project has an initial budget capacity of up to $300,000.
