$30 Million Boost for Housing Upgrades in Fiji!

The Housing Minister Maciu Nalumisa announced that approximately $30 million will be allocated for the upgrading of informal settlements on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Currently, four informal settlements are undergoing construction, and two new projects are set to begin within this financial year.

The settlements currently in construction include Sakoca in Nasinu, which has 174 households; Tavela in Nadi, with 68 households; Field 4 in Lautoka, consisting of 77 households; and Tore, also in Lautoka. Additionally, construction will soon begin on Vuniika in Labasa, home to 101 households, and Wabuyaya in Ba, which is made up of 35 households.

Furthermore, engineering plans for another 16 informal settlements are in progress, with an expected completion by the end of this year before moving into the construction phase.
