TAILEVU Naitasiri, Nasinu, and Lami FC have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2024 FMF Inter-District Championship Premier Division, set to take place on Saturday.
In a crucial Group A match earlier in the day, Lami FC and Nasinu FC ended in a 1-1 draw. This result led to a three-way tie among Nasinu, Bua, and Lami, with each team having two points and identical goal differences. However, due to Fair Play points, Nasinu FC finished at the top of Group A, with Lami FC securing the runner-up position.
As per the upcoming matchups, Tailevu Naitasiri will face Lami FC in the first semi-final of the Premier Division. The second semi-final will be determined by the outcome of a match between Savusavu FC and Tavua FC, scheduled for later today. The winners will take on Nasinu at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday.
Additionally, Nadi FC maintained their semi-final hopes with a decisive 4-1 victory over Nadroga in their Group B match. Under the guidance of coach Raj Dayal, Nadi led 2-0 at halftime thanks to goals from Siotame Kubu and Ratu Tulivou. Nadroga’s Semesa Sacere netted one goal, but further strikes from Ereniko Matau and Siotame Kubu ensured a comfortable win for the Jetsetters.
Nadi’s coach expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and is now awaiting the outcome of the Rewa vs Ba match. Nadroga’s interim coach Sunil Kumar noted that the final score did not accurately reflect the game, as his team squandered several opportunities.
