The Ministry of Finance has issued a stern warning regarding the submission of false information for the $200 Back-to-School Support initiative. Offenders could face a hefty fine of $20,000 or a possible jail sentence of up to 10 years, as stipulated under the False Information Act of 2016.

To ensure integrity in the application process, parents and guardians are encouraged to have their applications verified by listed authorities, which include school principals, education officers, and various local government officials, among others. This verification process is crucial in upholding the credibility of the initiative.

The application period for the Back-to-School Support runs from October 31, 2024, to December 6, 2024. It is important for applicants to be aware of these dates and to provide accurate information to avoid legal repercussions.

This initiative not only aims to assist families during the back-to-school period but also highlights the government’s commitment to maintaining accountability and trust in public programs. By reinforcing these measures, the Ministry hopes to ensure that support reaches those who genuinely need it.

In a broader sense, this effort serves as a reminder of the importance of honesty and transparency in benefiting from government programs, thus fostering a more equitable society.
