Applications for the $200 back-to-school assistance for students are currently being processed, according to Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad. He confirmed that a majority of the applications have been reviewed and processed.

Professor Prasad emphasized the importance of extending the application period to ensure that as many eligible students as possible can benefit from the grant. The eligibility criteria include a household income of less than $50,000.

This year, the Coalition Government has provided support to approximately 200,000 students annually, allocating a total of $130 million for this initiative. In 2023, over 200,000 students received aid, and similar assistance is expected to continue in 2024 and 2025, benefitting more than 200,000 students each year.

The minister highlighted the significance of timely assistance, especially after the holiday season when families often need financial support for new books, bags, and shoes as children prepare to return to school. This program serves as a crucial resource for parents, helping them equip their children for the academic year ahead.

In summary, the $200 back-to-school assistance is a significant initiative aimed at alleviating financial pressure on families during the back-to-school season. The continued investment in student support reflects a commitment to ensuring that every child is prepared for education, which is a positive step toward enhancing the overall educational experience in the community.
