Restoration efforts are currently in full swing across the Western Division as authorities work diligently to restore access to 115 roads affected by recent disruptions. Elimi Rokoduru, the Divisional Planning Officer for the West, reported that while the division has largely dodged major structural damage to its key infrastructure, the focus remains heavily on rehabilitating the road network.

Mr. Rokoduru emphasized the ongoing commitment of recovery teams to address transportation challenges. He noted that the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) currently lists 115 affected roads, underscoring the scale of the impact on transport. “They are working around the clock to get accessibility back on track,” he affirmed.

As repair crews continue their work, the number of affected roads may fluctuate, and Mr. Rokoduru expressed optimism that these numbers will decrease as progress is made. “Hopefully, by the end of the day, they will have reduced the numbers as we go along here,” he stated.

These restoration efforts not only aim to restore transportation but also reflect the resilience and dedication of the community in facing challenges and working toward recovery. The emphasis on teamwork and swift action is a positive sign of the commitment to rebuilding and improving the region’s infrastructure for greater accessibility and connectivity.
