This week, SHANTUI branded machinery was officially handed over to the Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport by Vision Motors. The equipment included two large excavators, two D6 bulldozers, two dumper trucks, and two flat-top trucks.
Permanent Secretary Paula Baleilevuka accepted the machines, valued at over $1.62 million, on behalf of the ministry. He noted that this marks the first set of new machinery the ministry has received in over a decade. Baleilevuka emphasized that the addition of these vehicles will improve their ability to maintain rural and remote areas and enhance emergency response efforts.
Ajay Lal, the dealer principal at Vision Motors, praised the ministry for selecting their company as its dealer, assuring the government of their commitment to meeting its needs and providing strong support for the SHANTUI brand. He mentioned that SHANTUI, established in 1953 in China as a significant partner to Caterpillar, offers its products at a cost that is four times less expensive.
Baleilevuka also stated that the new machines will directly assist with both planned and ongoing projects within the ministry. Additionally, the ministry anticipates acquiring more large machinery to expand its fleet in the current financial year.
