Youth Leaders Ignite Change at Commonwealth Forum

Fiji’s youth leaders have reaffirmed their dedication to collaborating with other youth leaders from Commonwealth nations to formulate policy recommendations and ensure youth participation in addressing crucial social, economic, and environmental issues. This commitment was made during the opening of the Commonwealth Youth Forum held on Monday in Apia, Samoa.

Dr. Arjoon Sudhoo, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, commended the youth for their impactful initiatives, stating, “The 13th Commonwealth Youth Forum is not just another chapter in our story; it is a celebration of all we have achieved this year.” He highlighted the collective efforts from Rwanda to Samoa to create an environment where young voices are amplified and take the lead.

Dr. Sudhoo emphasized the qualities of resilience, innovation, and dedication that have emerged in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, while also looking forward to future endeavors. Heads of delegations will receive a new memorandum of understanding for the Commonwealth Youth Programme, which aims to ensure the longevity of the secretariat’s work with young people for the next fifty years.
