A 17-year-old boy is among 26 individuals charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for serious sexual offences. He faces charges of rape and indecent assault involving a 15-year-old girl.
In total, the 26 accused are charged with 70 counts of various sexual offences, which include 46 instances of rape, three counts of attempted rape, two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape, five instances of indecent assault, and 14 counts of sexual assault.
Among the victims, there are 24 reported cases, with 15 of those under the age of 18. This group includes two male victims and 22 female victims. Notably, 12 incidents involved victims and offenders who were related to each other.
One of the cases involves a 76-year-old man charged with the rape of his eight-year-old granddaughter, while a 56-year-old man faces three counts of rape related to his 16-year-old granddaughter. Additionally, a 40-year-old man is charged with nine counts of rape connected to his eight-year-old daughter.
In a separate case, a 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape of his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but this case has been discontinued following the death of the accused. Similarly, a 35-year-old man faces charges of one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault against his 14-year-old stepdaughter, and a 32-year-old man is charged with two counts of rape related to his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Other charges have been made against a 56-year-old man for two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against his 13-year-old niece, while a 21-year-old man is charged with the rape of his 25-year-old niece. A 40-year-old man is facing two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault involving his 17-year-old niece. Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man was charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 16-year-old niece.
In one instance, a 31-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 29-year-old wife; however, that case was discontinued after the complainant admitted to making a false report. An 18-year-old man is charged with the rape of his 11-year-old cousin, while a 68-year-old man faces charges of two counts of rape and one count of attempted rape against a 25-year-old woman, with this case also being discontinued due to the complainant not being reachable.
A group of three young men aged 18 and 20 were charged with multiple counts of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl. Additionally, a 22-year-old man faces two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape, with the victim being a 16-year-old girl he had been dating. Another charge has been made against a 23-year-old man for the rape of his 20-year-old girlfriend. A 19-year-old is charged with both rape and attempted rape involving a 16-year-old girl, though this case was discontinued when the victim could not be contacted.
Moreover, a 53-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts of rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault of two young men aged 21 and 25. A 32-year-old man faces charges for the rape of a 20-year-old woman, while a 29-year-old man is charged with raping a 16-year-old girl; both of these cases have been discontinued due to the victims retracting their complaints.
Overall, eight cases were terminated due to various reasons such as insufficient evidence, inability to contact victims, and allegations of false complaints.
