Viola Ravutubananitu, a Year 8 student at Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has achieved remarkable success by becoming the top scorer in the Fiji Eighth Year Examination. The 13-year-old student earned an astounding score of 491 out of 500 marks, attributing her accomplishments to the unwavering support of her family and her strong faith in God.
Hailing from Totoya, Lau, and with maternal connections to Tavualevu in Tavua, Viola expressed her appreciation for the encouragement she received at home. “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty,” Viola stated. She expressed her happiness and pride in seeing her hard work pay off, revealing that she dedicated herself to studying by staying up late and rising early to revise throughout the year.
This impressive achievement is also dedicated to her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, her grandmother, and her parents. Viola reflected on her grandfather’s passing, stating, “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me.” She further emphasized her gratitude for the divine guidance she felt helped her overcome challenges.
In addition to honoring her grandfather, Viola acknowledged her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, for her constant support, as well as her class teacher, Nazeel Ali, and the school’s head teacher and staff for their encouragement.
The daughter of a corrections officer and a homemaker, Viola has ambitious plans for the future. She hopes to attend Adi Cakobau School (ACS) next year, believing it cultivates strong and independent women.
Viola’s achievements serve as a beacon of hope and pride, not only for her family and school but also for the community at large. Her story highlights the impact of determination, family support, and faith in overcoming obstacles and achieving success.
This inspiring narrative of resilience underscores the potential of young individuals when they are driven by passion and backed by a supportive community, suggesting that even in the face of adversity, success is attainable.
