Viola Ravutubananitu, a talented Year Eight student from Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has distinguished herself as her school’s leading scorer in the Fiji Eighth Year Examination. The 13-year-old showcased her remarkable academic prowess by earning an impressive 491 out of a possible 500 marks. Viola attributes her success to the unwavering support from her family and her deep faith in God.
Hailing from Totoya, Lau, with connections to Tavualevu in Tavua, Viola expressed heartfelt gratitude for the encouragement she received from her loved ones. “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty,” she remarked. “I am happy and proud that all my hard work didn’t go to waste. I started preparing from the beginning of the year, staying up late to study and waking up early to revise.”
With a spirit of dedication, Viola dedicated her achievement to her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, as well as to her grandmother and parents. Reflecting on her grandfather’s passing, she shared, “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me. But I thank the Heavenly Father for never leaving my side and helping me overcome my challenges.”
Viola also acknowledged the vital support from her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, along with appreciation for her class teacher, Nazeel Ali, and the head teacher and staff of the school. As the daughter of a corrections officer and a homemaker, Viola aspires to enroll in Adi Cakobau School (ACS) next year, noting, “I am interested in attending ACS because it breeds strong and independent women.”
Viola’s dedication and resilience not only reflect her personal determination but also serve as an inspiration to her school and family, showcasing the power of hard work and support in achieving academic excellence.
