Viola Ravutubananitu, a Year Eight student at Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has emerged as the top scorer in the Fiji Eighth Year Examination. This talented 13-year-old achieved an outstanding score of 491 out of 500 marks, attributing her success to the unwavering support of her family and her strong faith in God.
Hailing from Totoya in Lau, and with family ties to Tavualevu in Tavua, Viola expressed heartfelt gratitude for the encouragement she received from her loved ones. “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty,” she shared. Viola’s commitment to her studies was evident as she dedicated time throughout the year, diligently preparing by studying late into the night and rising early for revision.
Her achievement holds emotional significance as she dedicated it to her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, along with her grandmother and parents. “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me,” she said, highlighting the deep bond they shared. She emphasized her appreciation for the divine guidance she felt during challenging times.
Viola also recognized the pivotal role her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, her class teacher, Nazeel Ali, and the staff at her school played in her academic journey. Coming from a family with her father working as a corrections officer and her mother a homemaker, Viola aspires to attend Adi Cakobau School (ACS) next year, where she hopes to develop into a strong and independent woman.
Viola’s determination and resilience not only make her a proud representative of her school but also serve as an inspiring testament to the power of hard work and support systems in achieving one’s goals.
