Riya Bhagwan, a 20-year-old from Nadi, has a deep passion for journalism, stemming from her desire to advocate for grassroots communities and support the vulnerable. As a second-year journalism and social work student at the University of the South Pacific (USP), Riya draws inspiration from her familial background and her grandfather, a former reporter.

Her journey into journalism began during her Year 12 studies at Sangam SKM College when she discovered a love for public speaking and leadership roles that steered her away from corporate ambitions toward a more socially impactful career.
